Concert Notes:

Fall Concert at St. Theresa's School, November 2, 3:00 pm

The St. Theresa School PTA will present the Parkway Concert Orchestra in a fall pops concert on Sunday, November 2 at 3 p.m. in Monsignor Donahue Hall, St. Theresa School, 30 St. Theresa Avenue, West Roxbury. Music Director and Conductor Lawrence Isaacson conducts the 50 piece non–profit orchestra in classical and pops–style selections for the entire family, including Light Cavalry Overture, Bizet’s Carmen Suite No. 1 and selections from Ragtime and Sound of Music. Two of the orchestra’s French horn players, Adele van den Bosch and Mark Louttit, will be soloists in the Vivaldi concerto for 2 Horns in F major.

The concert will feature the St. Theresa Parish Choir, the Choristers’ Choir and the High School Choir, directed by Dr. Richard Bunbury, in selections from the Christmas Oratorio by J. S. Bach. After the concert, the audience will be able to meet the instruments at an instrument “petting zoo”.

Adele van den Bosch is in her third season as principal horn of the Parkway Concert Orchestra. Adele began playing the horn at age 8 and continued playing through college. She put the horn aside and pursued other interests for 17 years, picking up the horn again in earnest three years ago.

In addition to playing with Parkway, Adele also plays with the Harvard Musical Association, the Boston Bar Association Summer Orchestra and the Music Makers. This is a group that Adele started several years ago that consists of volunteer musicians that perform for preschool age and elementary aged children. Adele studies horn with Richard Greenfield, a freelance horn player in Boston, and teaches beginning horn in Milton.

Mark Louttit has an extensive background in music as a performer, teacher and in music retail sales. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Arizona where he studied horn with Keith Johnson. He has performed professionally as a member of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and as a bandsman in the United States Air Force. After spending many years away from music Mark returned to horn performance several years ago and is now in his second season with the Parkway Concert Orchestra.

After a highly acclaimed debut season, Music Director and Conductor, Lawrence Isaacson, returns for his second season with the Parkway Concert Orchestra. He is also Music Director of the Metropolitan Wind Symphony and the Old South Brass Ensemble. A regular guest conductor at the Aspen Music Festival, he has also conducted the Cambridge, Quincy and Fall River Symphonies and the Barrington (RI) Pops Orchestra. Mr. Isaacson’s current teaching duties include a faculty position at The Boston Conservatory, where he teaches trombone and is Assistant Director of the Music Division.

This concert is presented for the public by St. Theresa School PTA and is sponsored by P.E. Murray-George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home. Donation is $6; $5 for seniors; $4 for children. Includes light refreshments and free parking. For further information, please call 617–325–7825.
