Parkway Concert Orchestra presents its Season Finale concert on Sunday, May 5 at 3 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 100 Winter Street, Norwood. Music Director and Conductor Matthew Fritz has chosen a thrilling program including 'Lord of The Rings,' selections from Capriccio espagnol by Rimsky-Korsakov, 'Duke Ellington Medley,' and the finale from Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony. The program will feature mezzo-soprano Alyson Greer in 'Think of Me' from The Phantom of the Opera, 'Non so più cosa son' from Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, and 'O del mio dolce ardor' from Gluck's Paride ed Elena.

This concert is sponsored by Johnson String Instrument. The program is supported in part by a grant from the Norwood Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. Alyson Greer portraitAlyson Greer is the newly appointed Director of Choral Music at Westborough High School, where she directs seven choirs, including honors and a cappella ensembles. Additionally, Ms. Greer conducts the Handel and Haydn Society Young Women's Chorus, which consists of 70 auditioned high school students from over 30 communities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Under her baton, Young Women's Chorus has recently performed in Boston's Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall, and at the Harvard Radcliffe Women's Choir Festival at Sanders Theater. From 2005 – 2012, she was the Director of Choral Music at Hanover High School where her ensembles consistently earned gold ratings and medals at the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Directors Association (MICCA) and Heritage Music Festival statewide competitions, and have performed in MICCA’s gold medal showcase Stars @ Symphony at Symphony Hall and the Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) All-State Convention Concert Hour. She is also the Co-Founder and Assistant Director of Quincy Point Music Academy and has been Director of Music and Choirs at Quincy Point Congregational Church from 2007 until 2011. As an active performer and soloist Ms. Greer has performed in Graz, Austria with the American Institute of Music Studies, with the Eastern Nazarene Choral Union, Eastern Nazarene Summer Singers, and has performed with the Quincy Point Chamber Players. Ms. Greer holds a Bachelor of Music degree (magna cum laude) in Vocal Performance and a Master of Music Education degree, both from The Boston Conservatory. She was a Full Conductor Fellow at the Sarteano Chamber Choir Conducting Workshop (Tuscany, Italy), where she participated in masterclasses with Simon Carrington and Bronislawa Falinska and was a featured alto soloist in the Chamber Choir.
