Directions to Dexter School

The entrances to the Dexter and Southfield Schools are located on St. Paul's Avenue (Private Way) (some maps call it Mt. Walley Ave.) off of Newton St., right at the Boston-Brookline town line, just opposite Lars Anderson Park and the Antique Auto Museum.

  • From the west:
    • follow Route 9 into Brookline. At the intersection with Chestnut Hill Ave near the Brookline Reservoir turn south onto Lee Street, keeping right at merge with Clyde Street.
    • Continue to the end at the traffic lights and get in left lane.
    • Turn left onto Newton Street, stay in right lane, and after 3/4 mile look for red tile and stucco buildings on your right.
    • Turn right onto St. Paul's Avenue.
  • From the Boston area:
    • follow the Jamaicaway into Jamaica Plain to Jamaica Pond.
    • Take the Jamaicaway to Jamaica Pond;
    • continue past Jamaica Pond and take Pond Street on the right at the set of lights.
    • Continue up Pond Street which becomes Newton Street after entering Brookline.
    • The school's tan stucco buildings and red roofs are immediately on the left.
    • Take a left onto St. Paul's Avenue.
  • From the southeast:
    • follow the Arborway or Center Street into Jamaica Plain to the rotary where they meet.
    • Follow the Arborway (Rt 203) or Center Street until the two merge at a rotary with the Jamaicaway.
    • Go north on the divided section of the Jamaicaway for ONLY one block, get in the left lane, and loop around as if heading south.
    • Take the second left onto Pond Street.
    • Continue up Pond Street which becomes Newton Street after entering Brookline.
      • The school's tan stucco buildings and red roofs are immediately on the left.
    • Take a left onto St. Paul's Avenue.
  • From the south:
    • Follow the VFW Parkway into West Roxbury.
    • Follow VFW Parkway to the intersection of Independence Drive located at the Westbrook Village Shopping Plaza (Bertucci's and CVS) and Harvard Pilgrim Health Center on the left in West Roxbury.
    • Turn onto Independence Driver at the set of lights and continue through the rotary at Putterham Circle onto Grove St, which becomes Newton St at the set of lights at the Exxon gas station.
    • Continue straight on Newton St and through the next set of lights where Clyde St comes in on the left and Allandale Farm is on the right.
    • Continue on Newton St to where it becomes Pond St at the Brookline/Boston town line.
    • The school's tan stucco buildings and red roofs are immediately on the right. Turn right onto St. Paul's Avenue.
