Holiday Pops Concert in Norwood on December 15

Continuing its 75th anniversary season, the Parkway Concert Orchestra will present its annual Holiday Pops Concert on Sunday, December 15 at 4:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 100 Winter Street, Norwood. Music Director Thomas Kociela conducts the 50 piece non-profit orchestra in classical and pops holiday favorites for the entire family, including selections from The Nutcracker, Alfred Reed's Russian Christmas Music, and music from Frozen, as well as a sing-along. Norwood Selectman Tom Maloney will be featured as narrator of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas.

This concert is sponsored by Folsom & May Funeral Home and the program is supported in part by a grant from the Norwood Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. Donation is $15; $10 for seniors and students; and free for children under 12 years old. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. Light refreshments and free parking are included. Guest Artist Tom Maloney, Narrator

Tom Maloney portraitTom Maloney and his wife Cathy live in Norwood with their son John and their daughter Laura. He serves on the Norwood Board of Selectmen. He is also a member of the Norwood Hoop Club and the Neponset Sunrise Rotary Club. He has coached youth basketball in Arlington and Norwood.

Tom is a communicant at St. Catherine of Siena parish, and in 1997 he authored a history of his family's home parish, St. Patrick's of Watertown.

His theatrical credits include Drummond in Inherit the Wind, Grandpa Vanderhof in You Can't Take It With You, Ragpicker in Madwoman of Chaillot, Michael in I Do, I Do, and Stephen in When You Comin’ Back, Red Ryder?

In past lives, Tom was a producer in the audiovisual field and taught history at Eastern Nazarene College and Dean College. Currently, he is a Regional Lending Manager at Bank of Canton.

Tom is delighted to be working for the first time with the Parkway Concert Orchestra.
