Parkway Concert Orchestra presents Percussion Fiesta! on November 6 in Norwood

Parkway Concert Orchestra begins its 72nd season with 'Percussion Fiesta!' on Sunday, November 6 at 3 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 100 Winter Street, Norwood. Music Director Geneviève Leclair conducts the 50 piece non-profit orchestra in Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, Star Trek Into Darkness Suite, and The Moldau (Vltava) by Smetana. The program will feature Dan Bauch, Assistant Timpanist, Boston Symphony Orchestra, in Milhaud’s Concerto for percussion and small orchestra.

The program is supported in part by a grant from the Norwood Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. Donation is $15; $10 for seniors and students; and free for children under 12 years old. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m. For ticket reservations please call 781-444-5041.

Guest Artist Daniel Bauch

Daniel Bauch portraitA native of Boxborough, MA, Daniel Bauch joined the Boston Symphony as the Assistant Timpanist and Percussionist after playing three seasons with the Detroit Symphony. A frequent performer of contemporary music, Bauch co-founded the group, New Music Detroit, and continues to perform chamber music in the Boston area. He has been a guest performer with the New York Philharmonic, Marlborough Festival Orchestra, and numerous regional ensembles in New England. Mr. Bauch earned a bachelor's degree from the Juilliard School in 2002 under the tutelage of Daniel Druckman and while in New York performed with pianist Maurizio Pollini as part of a Carnegie Hall Perspectives Series, premiered a new work by Osvaldo Golijov with Dawn Upshaw and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra in Carnegie Hall, and recorded a CD with the New York New Music Ensemble released on Albany Records. Mr. Bauch earned a master's degree from Boston University, studying with Timothy Genis, and following graduation was offered a position on the faculty at BU, where he remained for two years. Bauch is currently on the faculty of the New England Conservatory as well as the Tanglewood Music Center, where he enjoys spending his summers with the Boston Symphony. When not performing or teaching, he spends his time cycling, traveling, and cooking.
