Meet the Parkway Concert Orchestra

The Parkway Concert Orchestra was founded in 1945 by West Roxbury music teacher, Ferdinand Fassnacht. The ensemble presents five to seven concerts each season with a mix of classical and pops-style music. The orchestra’s repertoire ranges from orchestral arrangements of symphonies and overtures to show tunes and marches.

The orchestra provides a rich performance opportunity for musicians to perform orchestral music on a regular basis throughout the year. The orchestra currently has about 50 members. The membership is comprised of predominantly amateur musicians, ranging in age from teenagers to octogenarians and representing a variety of walks of life. Performance ability and dependability are the only criteria for membership. The orchestra also provides soloists with the opportunity to showcase their talents.
