Parkway Concert Orchestra presents A Night in Italy on November 3, in Norwood

with David Rivera Bozón, tenor and Sarah Rogers, violin

Parkway Concert Orchestra begins its 75th anniversary season with 'A Night in Italy' on Sunday, November 3 at 3 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 100 Winter Street, Norwood. Music Director Thomas Kociela conducts the 50 piece non-profit orchestra in an exciting program including ‘O sole mio,’ ‘La donna è mobile’ from Rigoletto, ‘Nessun Dorma’ from Turandot and ‘Autumn’ from The Four Seasons, with soloists David Rivera Bozón, tenor, and Sarah Rogers, violin. To enhance your concert experience, the performance features a pre-concert talk (from 2:35 to 2:50) with Resident Conductor Brian Bell.

The program is supported in part by a grant from the Norwood Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. David Rivera Bozon portraitKnown as a truly versatile singer with an exceptional, robust, vibrant, and mesmerizing voice, tenor David Rivera Bozón’s captivating presence has charmed audiences internationally.

Based in Boston where he is pursuing graduate studies at New England Conservatory, Colombian tenor David Rivera Bozón has an eclectic international career. His performances include operatic roles as Puccini's Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, Tamino in Mozart´s Die Zauberflöte and Le Marie in Poulenc´s Les Mamelles de Tiresias. Solo orchestral performances include Beethoven´s 9th Symphony, Stravinsky´s Les Noces, Einhorn´s Voices of Light. He has also performed chamber works such as Ginastera´s Cantos del Tucumán and Cinco Canciones Populares Argentinas.

A current soloist with the Boston Bel Canto Opera, Coro Dante Alighieri, Opera Talk Italy, Opera on Tap, and the Mystic Side Church of Malden, Rivera Bozón is also frequently featured at the Philharmonia Boston, Calliope, the Rhode Island Encore Opera, the Chelmsford Central Congregational Church, and the Korean Church of Boston.

David Rivera Bozón holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from New England Conservatory where he studied with Bradley Williams, and a Bachelor of Music from the Conservatorio de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia where he studied with Maestra Ángela Simbaqueba.

Guest Artist Sarah Rogers, Violin

Sarah Rogers portraitSarah Rogers is a conservatory-trained violinist based in Quincy, Massachusetts. An active freelancer in the Greater Boston Area, Sarah earned her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the Eastman School of Music under the tutelage of Juliana Athayde and Lynn Blaskelee. A lifelong chamber musician, Sarah is an alumna of the prestigious Castleman Quartet Program.

Sarah graduated from the Fine Arts Center of Greenville, South Carolina, studying with John Ravnan and Dierdre Hutton. During her tenure there, she was a member of prize-winning chamber ensembles, premiering works by composer-in-residence Dr. Jon Jeffrey Grier.

Since 2014, Sarah has worked at Carriage House Violins of Johnson String Instrument. She stepped into the role of Assistant Manager of Operations in 2016.

Sarah performs on a modern violin by David Deroy made in Vannes, France in 2008.
